Tom Malone, born in 1915 (d. 2008, RIP) in Faha, a small townland outside of Miltown Malbay, has been the unofficial historian for the town for many years. In a recent interview with folklorist Tom Munnelly, Tom recalls his early days as an insurance salesman, part-time farmer, and his passion for GAA sports. This passion led him to the formation of the Clonbony Pipe Band which played for several decades all over Ireland. Tom's Fair Green hosted the small traveling circuses. Tom has an encyclopeadian memory for facts about Miltown Malbay.
Sean Malone, younger son of Tom, part-time farmer as well, opened the Market House in June 2002. Sean plays the fiddle and is known to sing the odd song. He anchors the Monday night session at the pub. He has also captained the hurling and football teams for the Clonbony GAA.
Fintan Malone, lives in Cheltenham, PA., USA. He has played music in the U.S. for over 25 years, running tours to Ireland for 19 years. He has played in sessions all over the U.S. and currently anchors a session on Tuesday nights at the Shanachie Pub in Ambler, PA and anchors a session on Wednesday night at the Auld Dubliner in Gloucester, NJ. He plays banjo, mandolin, cittern, guitar, tin whistle, harmonica and concertina.
Marian and Kathleen (Cal) make up the rest of the Malone Family and have done Trojan work to get this business up and going.
