The Malones
The Malones ("God Love 'Em") feature two men, a dozen instruments, a pint of plain...BRILLIANT!  A rollicking mix of traditional Irish, old-time, bluegrass, blues, straight-out rock and roll, the music of this high-spirited duo is addictive.  Regular performers at Kildare's Pubs, Fintan (Blarney) and Luke (Hooligans) play an awesome range of music from a  Beatles song ending in a lively reel or a Cape Breton march to a Johnny Cash or Bob Marley song.  Luke on vocals, guitar, harmonica and bodhran alongside Fintan on banjo, cittern, mandolin, concertina, tin whistles, harmonica, guitar, onion-skin flute and vocals provide their audiences with great entertainment. For select bookings the Malones are joined by their cousin John on bass, sax, keyboards and tin whistle which swells their instrumentation.   Be sure to check their schedule on the Malones schedule page on this site.
Boxty
Kevin Brennan, Belfast-born, has lived in San Francisco for years.  While there, he played with Van Morrison, Shana Morrison (Van's daughter) and fronted his own band "Claddagh".  He has recently moved to the East Coast, living in South Jersey and has joined forces with Fintan Malone to form a new duo "Boxty".  Fintan Malone, born in Miltown Malbay, Co. Clare, is a longtime musical fixture in the Philadelphia area.  He played with "Blarney" for almost 20 years, currently plays with "The Malones" and anchors the Shanachie session every Tuesday night with Kevin McGillian.  Kevin and Fintan have a unique sound, combining the best of traditional and more contemporary Irish music along with such popular favorites as Van the Man, Johnny Cash, the Beatles and many more.  For special occasions, "Boxty-The Trio" is available.  The third member of The Trio is Paraic Keane, a very talented fiddler.  Paraic, son of The Chieftain's fiddler, Sean Keane, lives and performs in Philadelphia and joins Fintan and Kevin for those bookings requiring a third musician.  Paraic can also be heard most Tuesday nights at the Shanachie session in Ambler, anchored by Fintan and Kevin McGillian.   Check Fintan's schedule page to see where they will be appearing!
McGillian, Malone & Cohen
McGillian, Malone and Cohen is a trio comprised of John McGillian, Fintan Malone and Dave Cohen, three of the most talented musicians in the Delaware Valley.  John McGillian, also a member of 5 Quid and an accomplished box player, has played with several local groups over the years and anchors the Sunday afternoon session at the Plough and the Stars.  He has played for concerts, ceilidhs, sessions, parties and festivals along with his father, Kevin, his mother, Mary and his brother, Jimmy.  Fintan Malone, originally from Co. Clare, has played with numerous duos and groups throughout the area, anchors three weekly sessions in Pa. and NJ and plays banjo, mandolin, cittern, concertina, tin whistle and harmonica.  He also provides the occasional song and yarn.  Dave Cohen, also a member of 5 Quid, is a guitar virtuoso.  He plays with numerous groups in the area and is a great singer.  These three men, while sounding like a law firm, are not just pretty faces!
Rubber Souls
It was more than 20 years ago that the Rubber Souls first performed their shows dedicated exclusively to the music of the Beatles.  Never a Beatles lookalike band, they concentrate instead on faithfully reproducing the sounds and the excitement of the Beatles' music.  The Beatles' music is as popular as ever with audiences young and old eager to hear the music that changed the world in the 1960s.  And the Rubber Souls are happy to oblige.  The five members of the band, Tim Donald, Kevin Kelly, Tom Kingston, Dave Tracey and Bill Truluck, draw on their rich experience of playing and singing all types of music from classical to folk to funk to punk to recreating the sounds of the world's greatest rock band, the Beatles.  Come and see them soon and relive the days of Beatlemania!
Five Quid

Five Quid is a dynamic, versatile Irish-based rock band from the Philadelphia area.  Founded in the summer of '07 and comprised of talented veteran musicians, Five Quid has been playing festivals, weddings, clubs, fundraisers and private affairs.  The band's musical influences range from the Pogues to the Ramones, the Clancy Brothers to the Wolfetones, the Beatles & Stones to modern rock sounds and classic country such as Johnny Cash & Elvis.  As Irish traditional musicians, the Brothers McGillian, John and Jim, ensure that Five Quid is more than capable of playing for such traditional Irish events as ceilidhs, festivals and weddings.  "Five Quid...Worth the price of a pint!"
